This guide explains the Plannings screen: where the internal/work-placement split and the per-learning-outcome (RA) weighting used to calculate your students’ grades comes from.
Planning and Grading → Plannings
A planning is the grading configuration of one subject for one specific academic year: how much of the final grade comes from the centre’s own assessment (internal) versus a work placement (external), and, within the internal part, how much weight each learning outcome (RA) carries. This is exactly what Entering grades by learning outcome uses to compute the internal grade and the final grade of each module.
A planning belongs to a specific course — the weights that applied last year are not necessarily the ones in force this year, and a correction to an old, already-closed course always uses the weights that were actually in force then. The course a planning belongs to is shown (read-only) as the first field of its form.
The list defaults to Show only mine, showing the plannings of the subjects you personally teach. Remove the filter’s facet from the search bar and you’ll see… nothing new: this screen only ever shows the subjects you teach, regardless of the filter, since that’s what your own access is scoped to.
It also defaults to Show only current course. Remove that facet to see the plannings of every academic year (for example, to check the weights a past course’s grades were calculated with).
Opening a planning shows its internal/external split and, in the Outcome ponderation tab, each learning outcome’s own share of the internal part. The history panel at the side of the form records every change made to the planning (who changed what, and when).
Plannings are read-only for teachers — you can consult your own subjects’ ponderations here, but creating or editing one is done by the academic administration or Head of Studies/Deputy. If a weight needs correcting (e.g. after a new learning outcome is added to a module), let them know directly.
